BONUS FOOTAGE:

The Majestic Snappers golf league are scheduled to play the third nine (holes 19 thru 27) every third week. Unlike the front and back nines that include courtesy stretch cart limo rides and relaxing picturesque pontoon boat rides across the majestic Lake Walden, the third nine involves self-piloting your own golf cart thrill ride from the beer deck – through the hair-raising and tense obstacle course parking lot – all the way to the 19th tee while avoiding incidents.

Many films have portals into other worlds where the characters jump through the looking glass through time or space. The portal can be anything from naturally occuring phenomena to manmade. Sometimes the portal is a tornado, like in the Wizard of Oz. Maybe the characters walk through the back of a children’s wardrobe closet (Narnia) into another world. Bill & Ted had their magical phonebooth, and there has even been a hot tub time machine. But maybe the strangest portal plot device is featured in the following 4 minute, 16 second picture you are about to see.

For something magical happens on the way to the 19th tee. The cement walled tunnel under Crouse Rd acts as our very own Stargate portal to a strange and distant land. The portal is dark and forboding, but as you feel the rise of the cart path and the golf cart bursts back into the sunlight – THERE BE JUGGLERS! THERE BE PIRATES! Don’t believe? Take a look…

It seems we may have been hasty last week in granting Jerry Carlson’s nomination of Nick Cooper for temporarily forgetting the location of his golf club…a Driver on the last tee holding up the boat for its ultimate retrieval….But NOT RETRIEVED?????ANYBODY???…..ANYBODY????… The Accusatory nominator Jerry Carlson’s……. lost 8 iron and lost PW…neither of which he even knew was left behind let alone where… Jerry defended with an otherwise persuasive “YOUR OWN WRITE UP OF NICK  said a forgotten PW  or 8 iron might be occasionally reasonable…” But you were not nominated for that brutha, but for being intolerant when you yourself plead for tolerance…Nominate others not, Sinner…

UPDATE (By DaBlade): This story has a happy ending (at least for me).  I had made every Majestic employee aware that I had misplaced my Ping 8-iron and PW the previous week, only to be rebuffed at my pleadings that Lake Walden be drained or dredged in a grid search for same.  I had almost lost hope and was resigned to hitting soft 7’s and 9’s for the rest of the year… after all, the rest of my clubs were all nestled and snug in my bag…

When out on the fairway there arose such a clatter

I sprang from my cart to see what was the matter

Away down fairway 13 I flew with a flash

Lost my cigar and got covered in ash…

When what to my wondering eyes should appear  

Mister Ranger returning my prodigal clubs for a beer!

I sprung to my ball with my newly returned wedge

I waggled and addressed it as if high on a ledge

My backswing was mighty, my follow thru a missile

The ball hooked dead left and was lost in the thistle

I heard the ranger exclaim, ere he drove out of sight

Happy Thursday, you Snappers, now that all is set right!

IN OTHER NEWS: Bailey has been playing with his new golf shot tracer app. (see below) He wants to turn it into a business by charging $5 for great shots… $15 to delete the bad ones and to keep off of YouTube.

After much experimentation, I believe we may have this technology perfected!

Not hardly…

Honorable mention to Rick Carlson who misjudged how close his cigar was to his ball in pre-league, hitting a nice shot but totally obliterating the end of the cigar on follow through….he looked like a Red Skelton Circus Clown when he placed it in his mouth after that and only the fact that no one photographed it kept him out of the running for the AOTD nomination…
